Summary

The Communications Specialist is a key member of our Corporate Communications team responsible for developing content and designing a weekly newsletter, writing and posting stories to our Intranet, coordinating communications for team members community activities and providing support for our community and internal events. This individual is deadline driven and thrives in a high energy, highly collaborative environment. We are looking for a go-getter who understands how to create messages that resonate with team members at all levels of our organization.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Supports internal communications efforts including:
  • Managing day-to-day Intranet content creation and posting, ensuring content is timely, informative and engaging.
  • Overseeing writing, layout, design and distribution of company-wide weekly internal newsletter.
  • Assists in internal content creation including Town Hall presentations
  • Supports external communications efforts including:
  • Overseeing TA LinkedIn page, creating, posting and monitoring content
  • Managing TA online newsroom, ensuring content is updated and engaging to attract media attention
  • Coordinates and executes charitable giving logistics for team member engagement events and other activities.
  • Attends team member engagement events at the office and in the community, taking pictures and capturing content
  • Provides support for Communications Team including media reporting and budget admin support

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in communications, English, journalism, media relations, public relations, or related field required
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in communications, journalism and social media preferred
  • Familiarity with SharePoint and InDesign preferred
  • Highly proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, MS Excel, Word and PowerPoint required
  • Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite (particularly Photoshop and InDesign) preferred
  • Results-oriented with a high attention to detail, ability to multi-task and meet deadlines
  • Excellent writing, editing and proofreading skills required, as well as the journalistic ability to source stories from team members and guests
  • Strong relationship-building skills required to work with all levels of team members
  • Familiarity with information technology, especially digital and video means of communication.
  • Ability to identify needs, think strategically, and determine best course of action to take

Working Conditions / Physical Requirements
